Interpreters & Translators

Kent County Council are always looking for professional interpreters and translators to join their network and provide high-quality language support across a range of public sector services.

As an interpreter or translator, you will play an important role in helping individuals communicate effectively when accessing vital services such as healthcare, social services, and education. Your skills will help ensure that language is never a barrier to receiving the support people need.

We offer a range of opportunities designed to suit different working preferences, including face-to-face interpreting, remote interpreting, and written translation work.

What We’re Looking For

We are recruiting translators and interpreters for the following languages: Somali, Kurdish Sorani, Kurdish Kurmanji, Oromo, Spanish, French, Tamil, Amharic, Bulgarian, Nuer, and Ukrainian.

Face-to-Face Interpreting

Face-to-face assignments involve attending appointments in person to provide clear and accurate interpretation between professionals and service users. These assignments take place across Kent and surrounding areas and may be within settings such as healthcare, local authority services, and education.

Remote Interpreting

Remote interpreting allows you to support appointments via telephone or online platforms such as Microsoft Teams. This option provides greater flexibility and enables interpreters to work from home while still delivering professional language support.

Written Translation

We also work with translators to provide written document translation for public sector clients. This may include translating reports, letters, forms, or other official documentation.
