Do you still need convincing that Maidstone is the place for you?
You might remember one of our previous blog posts about Maidstone, we heard from various Kent County Council Social Services team members. Don’t worry if you missed it, you can click HERE to read.
However if you still need some persuading, we’ve laid out below plain and simple, why Maidstone is not only a great place to work… but also to live!
As the county town of Kent, Maidstone really is the heart of the county...
Is Maidstone too far?
Maidstone is centrally located in Kent and is only 40 miles from the City of London! It is also only 29 miles from the Dartford Crossing for those travelling from Essex & 34 miles from East Sussex! The preferred roads into Maidstone are the M20 and M2, which allow access to 6 different routes into Maidstone town centre!

Maidstone is without a doubt a hub for social events.
Whether it’s prosecco or cheese festivals, or open air cinemas you’re looking for, this town has the facilities to accommodate it all.
Do you enjoy retail thearpy?
Maidstone is lucky enough to be home to both The Mall and Fremlin Walk, hosting a range of high-end and high street stores, not to mention Bluewater, one of Europe’s largest shopping centres is under 30 minutes’ drive away.
Are you an explorer?
Maidstone’s central location within the county means London, the coast, and France are all less than an hour’s journey away, whether that be by car, train or Eurostar. Maidstone has a choice of 3 train stations meaning you’ll never be short of transport links.
Is family life important to you?
Maidstone has nearly 40 primary and secondary schools, many of which have an ‘outstanding’ or ‘good’ Ofsted rating, meaning your child is sure to get the educational start in life that they deserve.
Here are some more popular venues, activities and places that are available to you in Maidstone:
Leeds Castle – One of the UK’s most visited and popular castles, is over 900 years old and was once the residence of King Henry VIII. Families from around the UK, and even the world, come to visit this impressive castle, taking full advantage of its infamous garden maze, breath-taking views and special events including a firework display, Christmas market, car show and open-air classical concert.
Mote Park – Once the main stage for Radio One’s Big Weekend, Mote Park has never been shy of its ability to bring people together. If you’re a lover of nature, you’d love the park’s rolling hills and lakes, playing home to a variety of wildlife. Picnic? Yes please! It’d be difficult to find a spot in Mote Park which isn’t ideal for a family picnic. If you consider yourself a bit of an athlete, Mote Park is a runner’s paradise. It may also be worth noting that Mote Park has a well-established leisure centre as well as very conveniently located cafes.
Lockmeadow Entertainment Centre – just a short walk from the high street, you can find an Odeon Cinema, Gravity Trampoline Park, Hollywood Bowling and a number of restaurants. There is also a David Lloyd gym within the complex for any fitness fans and an undercover traditional market held during the week.
