More Than Just Words: Meet Our Amharic & Tigrinya Interpreter
Language is more than words; it carries meaning, emotion and intent. For people accessing essential services, being able to communicate clearly can make all the difference. That’s where our interpreters step in. Working across health, social care and local government settings, they ensure conversations are not only translated accurately but delivered with cultural understanding and professionalism.
At Connect2Kent, our interpreters act as a bridge between individuals and the services they rely on. Whether that’s supporting sensitive discussions or everyday appointments, their role is to listen carefully and understand the message and the intention behind it and convey that into the target language.
In this interview, we speak to one of our interpreters, who speaks Amharic and Tigrinya, and learn what led them into the profession, the skills that matter most and why making a difference in someone’s experience is the most rewarding part of the job. Their story highlights the care and commitment it takes to help communication flow.
